Endorphin junkie…
I know I need to get on here more often and check in, things have been so crazy around here with all we’ve got going on. Especially since I started homeschooling our older two. We’re on our third week and things are going well. I’ve done as much work as the kids, if not more. I’ve got to type out many of their assignments, plan what assignments to do on what days, things like that. Then, I’ve got to actually teach them alot of it too. Especially my son, he needs a bit more one on one than my daughter. Scary thing is they’re in college prep classes and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to handle it because it’s been so many years since I myself went to school. It’s going very well though. The only thing I have trouble with is their Algebra 1 & 2 classes. But that isn’t a big deal really, because they’ve got study guides and there is math tutoring every Friday for three hours in the afternoon. They even get to do science labs once a month. They went to their first one yesterday late afternoon. They had a great time of it. They enjoyed the labs and socializing with the other kids there. So far, I am really glad we made the choice to homeschool them. I hope it continues to go well!
One good thing, among all the chaotic goodness that is going on around here, I continue to stay on plan with my eating and exercising. I think I’m turning into a workout addict! A bit of an endorphin junkie. Last Thursday I decided to kick it up a notch and actually get running instead of just walking fast. I ran a full mile without stopping! I did so again on Friday and then twice on Saturday. Saturday I even climbed to the top of a HUGE sand dune on the way to my mom’s house. I haven’t climbed that thing in YEARS….probably since I was about 16. The pictures don’t do it justice. It was such an awesome workout, both cardio and strength training. I wish I lived closer (we’re about 3 hours south of it)….if we did, I’d be there at least once a week climbing that sucker. It took me a good ten minutes to get all the way to the top, but by God I got up there!!! I was elated I tell ya! It was such an awesome feeling to be standing at the top looking out at the ocean….and looking down at our ant sized van. My husband and my 11 year old, Nick, climbed to the top with me. My 6 year old Noah, he climbed about half way up. Our teens and my daughters boyfriend didn’t get but maybe a quarter of the way up before quitting and going back down.
Anyway, here are the pics of me on the dune. My daughter zoomed in to get the close ups….there is the one though that shows me climbing to the top. What an awesome accomplishment that was for me. One I will never forget.
When we got to my mom’s house, my aunt was waiting at the top of the stairs and when she saw me she literally gasped in shock and cried! She hasn’t seen me since last Christmas when I was 110 lbs. heavier. It was pretty cool. Made me feel good!
That’s it from me for now. I will try to get on here again before too much longer. My buddies have all been so good to me and I feel I’ve been way too neglectful. I think of you all often and am wishing you the best.
